Paul Barbara, Director

EXPERIENCE
Paul graduated from La Trobe University in 2005, completing a double degree in Commerce and Economics. During his first year of university, Paul was awarded the Institute of Chartered Accountants CA Achievers Award for outstanding achievement in his accounting studies. This was a ‘sliding doors’ moment for Paul, as the award offered him a work experience position at BDO Chartered Accountants in Melbourne. It was at BDO where he would meet one of his current business partners, Anthony Willis.

Following BDO's integration with leading professional services firm Deloitte, Paul completed his CA and became a Senior Analyst in the Growth Solutions division, which specialised in middle market clients and SMEs. He was responsible for managing a large ledger of tax and accounting clients across a broad spectrum of industries, as well as seconded to companies in a financial controller capacity.

Paul's passion for SMEs and family groups led him to joining Willis Partners in 2009, and he became a partner in January 2012. He now manages a growing and wide-ranging client base, across a multi-facet of industries, including building and construction, hospitality, farming, professional services, medical, trades, professional athletes, etc. Paul believes this variety is a huge strength to Willis Partners. Nothing pleases Paul more than putting two of his clients together to achieve a desired result.

Paul describes himself as a modern-day accountant: a trusted advisor and the ‘sounding board’ for his clients. You’ll often find Paul at his client’s office, farm or factory, getting his hands dirty to help his clients achieve their business goals and successes.
